NetSci 2017 Student Travel Support and Poster Awards
NetSci 2017 will offer at least 25 graduate students full conference fee waivers (worth about $250) and at least 10 student travel awards ($300). These will be awarded on a competitive basis. More awards may be made available contingent upon sponsorship support. Applications will be accepted between March 1 (after abstract decisions are issued) and March 15. Applications will include a CV and a one-page maximum personal statement about involvement of the student in the Schools, Satellites, or Conference and how network science is relevant to the student's training and research. Decisions will be issued as quickly as possible to allow for planning.

Adobe Research Internship in Machine Learning and Data Science

Adobe Research is looking for a student intern with expertise in Machine Learning and Data Science, particularly applied to Video data.

Our research focusses on various topics but not limited to such as: 

· Recommendation systems
· Probabilistic Graphical Models
· Big data visualization
· Feature selection
· Hierarchical Clustering
· Matrix Factorization techniques
· Online learning
· Bayesian Nonparametric techniques
· Variational Inference

The internship will be at the Big Data Experience Lab(BEL) (https://research.adobe.com) located in San Jose, California. It will be at least 12 weeks long and can start anytime depending on the availability of the candidate in Spring/Summer 2017.

The candidate must possess outstanding potential for original research in Data Science, with a passion for seeing that research makes its way into products. In addition, the individual should have good communication skills, as well as strong interest in collaborative work with other researchers and product development teams inside Adobe.

Researchers in the lab employ big data analytics, content analysis and mobile intelligence techniques to enable organizations deliver delightful experiences in Digital Marketing. The lab has created and delivered several break-through technologies, which deeply impacted Adobe products.

Summer Internship positions at Information Retrieval and Machine Learning group at Oracle Labs

The Information Retrieval and Machine Learning (IRML) group at Oracle Labs is looking for several highly motivated interns for Summer 2017. 

The candidate should be proficient in one or more areas of Machine Learning, including Classification, Statistical NLP, and Computer Vision. Our current focus is in the areas of information extraction, structured prediction, topic models, causal inference, and deep learning. Research experience in any of these areas is strongly preferred. The candidate should also have good implementation skills in Java, Scala, Python or other common language of choice. We are open to both Masters and PhD candidates, but PhD candidates are preferred.

About IRML:
The group is tasked with developing core Information Retrieval, statistical Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning technologies in order to help solve complex and challenging business problems. We collaborate with a number of Oracle product groups, working on projects like classification, search relevance, feature selection, Bayesian inference, sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, entity linking, and product attribute extraction. We also publish our research at top conferences.

 Microsoft Research is searching for exceptional intern candidates in the area of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, or a related field.  Working closely with researchers from Microsoft for the duration of three months, you will advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence by developing novel models and algorithms.
