Interdisciplinary Design and Media PhD Student
lab website

Dana is a first year PhD student in Interdisciplinary Design and Media working with Dr. Brooke Foucault Welles and Dr. Nabeel Gillani. She is interested in combining data visualization, systems design, and technology to explore our capacity for more transparent, intelligent, efficient, and equitable decisions and outcomes in policy. She has previously worked as a data scientist, cognitive science researcher, technology startup founder, analytics product manager, local government activist and then political candidate, and information designer in the civic data space. She received a BA in computer science and cognitive science from Wellesley College, an MS in information design and data visualization from Northeastern CAMD, and a graduate certificate in data, economics, and development policy from MITx. Through theory and practice, Dana is excited to explore enriching our collective toolset, re-examining balance of influence, and impacting how information flows through systems and communities.
