The SUNLab will be hosting a film screening and panel Q&A of the documentary Join or Die on May 1st from 5:00-8:30pm. Refreshments will be provided.
About the film: In this feature documentary, follow the half-century story of America’s civic unraveling through the journey of legendary social scientist Robert Putnam, whose groundbreaking “Bowling Alone” research into America’s decades-long decline in community connections could hold the answers to our democracy’s present crisis.
After the film: we will host a panel discussion about the current state of research on social capital, and how large-scale data and computational methods can advance understanding of the dynamics of social capital in urban life.
