Integrative Biology Applied to Neglected Infectious Diseases

Neglected infectious diseases such as Zika, Chikunugnya, Dengue and Yellow Fever represent a great public health and economic burden to most tropical countries. The seminar will show how various types of data, from GPS data to gene expression at single cell level, can be integrated to study these diseases.

Dr. Nakaya is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Analyses and Toxicology at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil and an adjunct professor in the Department of Pathology at Emory School of Medicine. He is an expert in systems immunology, an interdisciplinary field which combines system-wide measurements, networks, and predictive modeling in the context of vaccines and infectious disease.
