Of the many components to a fellowship application, the personal statement and/or the research statement are among the most important. The challenge of writing and revising these kinds of statements is intense, leading students to search for resources, examples, and help.

This one-hour virtual workshop will guide graduate students in the basics of effective statements:
-What information is included in a personal statement? In a research statement?
-What are the features (e.g., organization, style) of this kind of writing?
-How do you tell a compelling ‘story’ of your experiences and your research interests?

An effective statement goes beyond simply re-hashing your C.V. or resume. Join us and increase your knowledge and comfort level writing this important genre.
