On October 23, 2025, Prof. Brennan Klein spoke at the two-day conference Municipal Courts and the Promise of Community Justice, organized by the Center for Justice Innovation and Just Leadership USA at Rutgers University.
The event focused on the impact of municipal courts on communities and individuals. Prof. Klein, whose research at the Network Science Institute focuses on modeling multi-scale and dynamic networks and applying them to domains such as criminal justice, contributed to this important conversation with a plenary talk on data visualization.
His talk examined system-level data as a lens on inequality in municipal courts, alongside a presentation showing how data—when viewed in the right context—can expose injustices, hold systems accountable, and drive municipal court reform.
