Network Science Institute researchers David Lazer and Alessandro Vespignani named to Clarivate's Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list
The Network Science Institute is proud to announce that two of its distinguished faculty members, David Lazer and Alessandro Vespignani, have been recognized on Clarivate's Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list. This prestigious honor is reserved for only 1 in every 1,000 scientists and social scientists worldwide and it acknowledges researchers whose work has demonstrated exceptional influence and impact in their respective fields.
Clarivate, a leading global provider of transformative intelligence, released its annual Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list on November 12, 2025, recognizing 6,868 individuals from more than 1,300 institutions across 60 countries and regions. The list is compiled through a rigorous evaluation and selection process conducted by analysts from the Institute for Scientific Information at Clarivate, drawing on data from the Web of Science Core Collection. The methodology combines quantitative metrics and qualitative analysis to identify researchers whose contributions have had genuine, global influence on their fields. This year's program incorporated enhanced screening processes, including additional layers of scrutiny to address issues such as hyper-prolific authorship and excessive self-citation, ensuring that only those whose work meets the highest standards of impact and integrity are recognized.
The inclusion of Prof. Lazer and Prof. Vespignani on this list underscores the Network Science Institute's commitment to advancing cutting-edge research that shapes scientific understanding and addresses complex societal challenges. Their recognition reflects years of groundbreaking contributions that have influenced researchers and practitioners worldwide.
