Prof. Andreia Sofia Teixeira appointed Visiting Academic at KMMS
Announcement
November 6, 2025

We are delighted to announce that Prof. Andreia Sofia Teixeira has been appointed Visiting Academic at Kent and Medway Medical School in Canterbury, Kent (UK). This appointment strengthens clinical and academic ties between our teams and opens new pathways for collaborative research at the intersection of network science and health.

What this means

Prof. Teixeira’s appointment provides the BRAN Lab and collaborators with enhanced access to healthcare data and clinical partnerships in the UK, and positions the team to pursue joint UK funding opportunities focused on network-science applications to health research. These new connections will accelerate translational projects that bridge computational modelling, behavioural data, and clinical insight.

About Prof. Teixiera and the BRAN Lab

The BRAN Lab, led by Prof. Teixeira, is an interdisciplinary group studying how cognitive-affective patterns evolve and propagate across scales, from individual mental representations to collective social dynamics, with focus on understanding how these structures shape mental health and behavior. The lab’s research includes network neuroscience (brain connectivity), computational psychiatry (suicide ideation, mental health trajectories), computational social science (polarization, equilibrium dynamics), and computational epidemiology (HIV prevention, disease outbreaks). Current work focuses on longitudinal social network analysis, social environment effects on adolescent mental health and brain network organization, spillover effects from human-AI interactions, and data-driven methods for health systems and improvement of PrEP policies for MSM.
