NetSI had the pleasure to host a group of 30 students from Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, visiting Boston as part of a student-led initiative to connect with academia and industry across the northeastern U.S. and Canada, entirely organized by the Eindhoven Student Association. We embraced this opportunity to share our approach to interdisciplinary research, introduce the institute’s Labs and network science-focused research interests, and discuss how students can get started in the network science field through our PhD and MS programs. The group heard directly from our program directors, current NetSI PhD students, and our coordinator for education and outreach about the academic experience and the support resources available throughout their journey.

This visit was also a valuable opportunity for us to learn how students at other institutions create opportunities to travel abroad to explore new academic and business realities that may shape their future career decisions. Impressively, the Eindhoven Student Association funded their multi-week trip through sponsorships from local Dutch companies, many of which have existing relationships with the students through collaborations and internships. We are excited to see what may grow from this exchange!
