The goal of the science of success is to explore in a quantitative manner the processes and behaviors through which some individuals attain success. The central tenet of the discipline is the distinction between performance, an individual measure of behavior, and success, a collective measure capturing the societal acknowledgement of an individual’s performance. Here we review two features of success that are at the core of multiple studies in the Science of Success, before explaining several recent applications.
